34 wks

Your baby has bulked up like the average cantaloupe -- to about 4 3/4 pounds. (Length: almost 18 inches, head to heel.)

i can now make out a foot coming across my belly or a head. he is getting restless like us, but he's probably more cramped. soon i'll be going every week for appointments. feeling good. people are asking my due date. due date is feb 10th. pretty close and exciting.

this little guy does keep me up like haley did. but that gives us some much needed quality time.

33 wks

Your baby is proportioned like a pineapple when it comes to weight -- a little over 4 pounds. (Length: more than 17 inches, head to heel.)

i was measuring at 33 wks last week. we're nearing the end and this is when he gains the most poundage and grows. and i continue to get slower and slower :)

it is so much fun to have him really wiggly and be able to tell which body parts he's moving around. whether it's a kick to the ribs or a knee to the bladder...i do enjoy the movements.

we got our first new boy outfits this weekend from family. so fun and no pink or purple :) we were never into all flowers and frill and we probably won't be all into the trucks and sport stuff. but we got monkeys :)

it's just fun to watch them grow into themselves and figure out their style. haley loves trucks and cars (she says beep beep all the time) and who knows what this little guys will like. no matter what love them. we can't wait to meet our little guy.

doc visit

today i met one of the docs in the rotation. i've met her before. she's very nice. we had a good talk and she rushed through the visit since there is supposedly a huge storm coming. so i was out of there in 15 min. it was great. of course i had mike come home to play with haley for a short visit. oh well. i'm measuring 33 wks and haven't gained any weight in a month. not too bad considering i was gaining 5-8 lbs every two wks with haley - so it seemed. so things are going well. next visit after the new year and after 36 wks i go every week. crazy. feeling good and getting more and more excited. i'm sure time won't seem to be going as fast soon. it just seems fast since we've been busy. but it will slow down as we get closer and more excited and anxious.

32 wks

Your baby is taking up more and more space in your uterus and weighs as much as a large jicama -- about 3 3/4 pounds. (Length: about 16 3/4 inches, head to heel.)

this is a photo taken at 7am - i'm not quite awake. but you can see my basketball. still carrying higher than i did with haley. pretty soon i'll be going to the doc every week. he's quite the mover at night. and has been asking for lots of cinnamon anything.

the photo of me in the blue is when i was 32 wks pregnant with haley. i was so much wider and puffier. funny. i was twice the size with haley than i am this time. and i've heard your 2nd pregnancy you are usually bigger, but i still have time to get bigger :) both pregnancies i've been pretty lucky. besides no sleep that is. but i can't really complain.

cohen kiddies blog will combine the baby blog and haley's blog when the baby is born. so bookmark this for the future.

31 wks

Your baby now weighs as much as four navel oranges. (Length: over 16 inches, head to heel.)

6 wks til full term. still feeling pretty well, but still not sleeping very well. but really can't complain. cleaning out the nursery and slowly getting ready is sad and exciting. it was hard to put haley's clothes away, but fun to pull out the newborn stuff.

we have more neutral clothes than i thought we did. but it will still be fun to buy some little boy clothes. still trying to hold off on buying stuff because i know once i start i know i won't be able to stop.

eli

last night i got to hold eli stephens while he slept. it was really nice to get to hold such a cute tiny baby. our baby kicked him a lot and was trying to wake him up. i think he was jealous or just trying to bond with him. maybe they'll be good friends. they'll be a few months apart.

quite a pair

loving the cold. only my child would giggle into the freezing wind. it was 17 degrees and 3 below with windshield. she was bundled and had her monkey hat on, but she was just giggling away. do kids not feel cold?

of course i'm not cold. i have pregnancy temps. so i get hot in a sweater and end up having to take my coat off because i get so hot.

haley got to run around the library today saying hi to everyone, played in the castle, colored, had story time and watched the fishies swim in the tank. she also enjoyed apple slices at mcds while mommy could eat a small fries :) it was a hard day without power in the house so we had to get out and treat ourselves :)

measuring well

he's measuring exactly at 30 wks.

my doctor told me she has another patient named katie cohen who is asian. funny. her full name is kathleen. she said that she is 15 some weeks behind me so there is no chance of getting the babies confused. ha ha. not really funny, but funny that there is another asian katie cohen.

kicks vs kix

i forgot to mention that the other day i was holding the kix cereal box in my lap to snack with haley. the baby was kicking pretty hard and he knocked over the kix box. seriously. pretty funny. he's getting strong for just being a couple pounds.

30 wks - 7 wks til full term

30 wks already - Your baby rivals a good-size cabbage in weight, tipping the scales this week at 3 pounds. (Length: about 15 3/4 inches, head to heel.)

ack - i can't believe that. i'm seeing the OB tons now and getting quite big. it's just my belly. he's really moving - people can see him jiggle my belly and poke out from across the room. it's pretty funny. he knocked over the cheerio box this morning that was in my lap.

we have lots to do to get ready. we have a lot to do left on the house.

even though i'm getting bigger and bigger and look like i'm smuggling a basketball - it gets more exciting and more fun as he moves more.

29 wks

Your baby is as big as a butternut squash, weightwise -- about 2 1/2 pounds. (Length: a tad over 15 inches, head to heel.)

they don't say that you start eating like you've never eaten :) i am sooo hungry all the time. it's crazy. i forgot about that.

my sisters went on a cinnamon donut run for me. it's bad when your family goes on runs for you. and my pregnancy brain is kicked on in high gear. or i guess lack there of.

i had to go to target to get something for haley. i couldn't recall for the life of me what i needed. walked down the aisles aimlessly. left and then later my dad reminded me what i needed. duh. i hate that.

spending a week in omaha. it's so fun for haley to play with her aunties and grandparents.

can't believe i'm 29 wks.

28 wks

You're in the home stretch! The third and final trimester starts this week. If you're like most women, you'll gain about 11 pounds this trimester. (i gained a lot more than that with haley - we'll see how this trimester goes)

Your baby is equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage -- about 2 1/4 pounds. (Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.)

Thursday, November 13, 2008

still measuring a bit bigger than average, but that might just be the way he's lying. haley measured small sometimes and big sometimes. next week we will be starting the 3rd trimester. haley sat in my lap today while i got my blood drawn. she was very concerned, but very good today for our long appointment. she sat in a chair all by herself and read a magazine. so grown up. of course she wiggled and danced to her brother's heartbeat.

funny comments

so we have moved past the 'was it a mistake question' thank goodness. now it's when will your construction be done and when will you move haley to her big girl room. same time construction is done ;) hopefully all before the baby comes. i can't believe we'll be full-term in 10 wks. ack. by this time with haley we had started putting her room together and getting organized. we haven't bought anything for this baby yet. i feel kind of guilty. i didn't buy clothes for haley because i knew once i started i wouldn't stop. but i feel like i should buy our little guy something new.

this weekend one of our waitresses offered me wine. i thought that was funny.

also i was waiting in line for the bathroom. and as you get bigger and maybe it's because he was kicking my bladder, but i had to really go - and this lady was so rude to me. first she didn't lock the door so i walked in and she slammed the door on me. then she opened the door - looked at me and said it will take awhile. so i just stood there. the lady worked there and another employee knocked on the door after 5 min and said get out - this lady has to pee. i thought that was pretty nice. i was surprised how rude the lady in the bathroom was.

anyways - then i was getting my haircut and another lady asked me how the new baby was. i guess she thought i looked like i just had the baby - not sure if that's good or bad. i have been looking pretty tired - but i laughed and said the baby is still in my belly. i have a few months to go.

i love that i haven't been riding public transportation. with haley i had strangers wanting to touch my belly or give me advice. so this time i've been able to keep our little guy just to family and friends :)

ok - i'm just babbling because i'm up so early waiting to get haley ready and to go pick out our new bathroom vanity counters. yay.

27 wks

how am i almost at the 3rd trimester? wow. starting my every 2 wk doc appointments.

Your baby is as hefty as a head of cauliflower, weighing in at almost 2 pounds. (Length: about 14 1/2 inches.)

our baby boy is quite the boxer or kick boxer. he is definitely a wiggler like his sister. he hasn't gotten as many hiccups as haley, but still gets them.

still feeling pretty good considering all that is going on in our house. at least we can sleep in our own beds again - for now. hoping to be done with construction by christmas/hanukkah. yay. can't wait.

election

haley and i have been watching cnn and they keep talking about 'counting' this and numbers and haley keeps doing the 'count' from sesame street. very funny.

26 wks

Your baby is as tall as an English hothouse cucumber and weighs about 1 2/3 pounds. (Length: 14 inches, head to heel.)

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.
